“The president has been briefed,” stated press secretary Karoline Leavitt in a concise announcement.
Following the downing of an American F-15E, U.S. forces initiated a search-and-rescue mission as a bounty was announced for the pilots who went missing.
According to the Wall Street Journal, one of the two pilots has been successfully rescued.
The whereabouts of the second crew member remain uncertain, and efforts to locate them are still underway.

The take down is the first known loss of a jet inside the country since the start of Operation Epic Fury.
Iranian state TV said the fighter jet was targeted by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps air defenses. It also broadcast a bounty on the pilots.
