U.S. President Donald Trump said Sunday in a post on Truth Social that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will step down from office.
Trump said he wished Starmer well, while also criticizing the Labour leader over what he described as failures on two major policy areas.
“Keir Starmer will resign as Prime Minister of The United Kingdom. He failed badly on two very important subjects- IMMIGRATION AND ENERGY (OPEN NORTH SEA OIL!). I wish him well! President DJT,” Trump wrote in the Truth Social post.

Starmer, who leads the Labour Party, has not publicly announced any plan to resign as prime minister, though Reuters reported Sunday that he was weighing his political future.
According to the outlet, a source said Starmer could decide as early as Monday whether to step aside or fight a leadership challenge from Andy Burnham.

The Associated Press reported that Burnham is set to be sworn in Monday as a member of the House of Commons after winning a recent special election.
Reuters also reported that Starmer said Friday he would compete if a leadership contest is triggered: “If there is a contest … then yes I will run, I will stand.”
Starmer issued a post on X about Father’s Day on Sunday.

“Being a dad is my greatest joy. Today, I’m thinking about my dad, and the father I am to my children because of him. Happy Father’s Day,” he wrote.
