President Trump announced on Sunday that ICE officers will be dispatched to airports to assist with the lengthy security lines at TSA checkpoints. This decision comes after TSA funding was depleted over a month ago due to a shutdown attributed to the Democrats.
This initiative aims to alleviate the extensive wait times at airports, where security lines have reportedly stretched up to three hours. TSA agents, who have not been paid for weeks, are either walking off the job or calling in sick, exacerbating the situation.
On his Truth Social account, Trump stated, “Starting Monday, ICE will support our dedicated TSA agents, who continue to work despite the Radical Left Democrats prioritizing illegal immigrants over national security by withholding funds that were previously agreed upon.”
Trump anticipated that his decision to deploy federal immigration agents will face backlash from the left.
“Regardless of the excellent work ICE will do, the incompetent Democratic leaders will criticize them harshly,” Trump remarked, adding, “THEY WILL DO A FANTASTIC JOB.”
The president also mentioned that border czar Tom Homan will oversee the operation.
Travelers have been facing security line hell this past weekend, with wait times Sunday hitting nearly three hours at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, two hours at Houston’s George Bush International Airport and more than an hour at JFK in New York.
