Trump details his ‘final 30 days’ strategy to get Republicans elected in the midterms

President Trump on Wednesday outlined an aggressive late-stage campaign strategy aimed at helping Republicans prevail in 35 pivotal midterm races ahead of the fall elections.

Starting in October, with just a month to go before the high-stakes Nov. 3 contests, Trump said he intends to return to the campaign trail while also holding multiple tele-rallies in an effort to protect Republican control of both the House and Senate. He detailed the plan during remarks to GOP lawmakers and administration officials at a White House Rose Garden dinner.

“I’m going to take the final 30 days, maybe a little bit more than that, because it’s all about 35 races,” Trump said. “I’m going to go to every one of those 35 places, and we’re going to see if we can get everyone elected.”

Trump did not identify the specific races he plans to target — though 35 Senate seats are on the ballot in November — but he urged lawmakers at the dinner, including House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), to help point him toward the most competitive contests. He asked them to “give me some names where, I say, is either tied, or you’re winning by a little bit, or you’re losing by a little bit.”

“In some cases, you can be losing by a lot, and we’ll bring you over the line,” Trump added. “But mostly, it’s if you’re close – and we’ll get, I think, we’ll get all those people elected.”

The president also previewed an intensive schedule of “tele-townhalls” in the closing weeks of the midterm campaign, suggesting he could participate in as many as 10 per night.

“They’re fantastic. They work amazingly,” he said.

Trump singled out two races where he said he would personally campaign: Alaska, where incumbent Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan is seeking another term, and Texas, where Attorney General Ken Paxton is in a tight Senate race against Democrat James Talarico.

Trump compared the potentially brutal schedule to the final 120 days of his 2024 presidential campaign, during which he claims he swore-off playing golf.

“Four months out I said, ‘OK, no days off.’ If I didn’t make 4-5 speeches a day it was very bad. I just went around and really campaigned hard,” he recalled.

“For 4 months, there will be no pleasure. I’m not gonna go play golf. … All I’m gonna do is work, work, work, fight, fight, fight, win, win, win … and I did.”
