A source with knowledge of the situation informs ABC News that the victims of the shooting include state Sen. John Hoffman from Champlin and state Rep. Melissa Hortman from Brooklyn Park. Both were attacked at their residences, and it is believed that the shooter was posing as a law enforcement officer, according to the source.

The incidents occurred early Saturday morning in Champlin, Minnesota, and Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, which are about 8 miles apart, situated just north of Minneapolis.
