Jacksonville, Fla. — In a series of unrelated events, two individuals have been critically injured in separate shootings that occurred across Jacksonville. These incidents unfolded late Monday night on the Northside and early Tuesday morning on the Westside, as reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO).

The first shooting took place on the Northside of Jacksonville, shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Monday. Police officers were dispatched to the 400 block of West 16th Street following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered a woman in her 30s who had sustained a gunshot wound. She was immediately transported to the hospital, where her injuries were deemed life-threatening.

According to investigators, the shooting stemmed from a heated argument between the woman and the alleged shooter. Although details about the suspect have not been disclosed, authorities successfully apprehended the individual without any resistance. The suspect is currently in police custody for questioning, with officials noting that the incident appears to be isolated.

Meanwhile, as the investigation into the Northside shooting continues, another person has been reported in critical condition following a separate shooting on the Westside. Details surrounding this second incident are still emerging as law enforcement works to piece together the circumstances.

Investigators said the woman got into an argument with the shooting suspect, whom they did not provide a description for, before the suspect ultimately shot her.

The suspect was taken into police custody without incident and is being questioned, and investigators say the shooting appears to be an isolated incident.

The second shooting happened around 12:40 a.m. Tuesday on the 3500 block of Alcoy Road.

Officers responded to the scene after calls of a man being shot.

Investigators said the man was in his bed when he heard a noise inside his house. When he sat up, an unknown person fired multiple shots in his direction, hitting him in the chest and arm.

A roommate took the man to the hospital and he’s in critical condition but stable, police said.

Investigators said another roommate inside the house during the shooting has been detained and is being questioned by detectives.

Anyone with information on these shootings should call JSO at (904) 630-0500
