“He loved to ride his bike. He was chill. He cared about everyone, really nice,” friend Jackson Ziagos said.

Police said the crash occurred around 10 p.m. Tuesday while Waldal was riding an e-bike and crossing Main Street in front of the high school.

Authorities said Waldal collided with a northbound SUV and was thrown from the bike.

Officials said the fatal crash has renewed concerns about the safety of motorized bikes and how they are used by young riders.
