A man involved in a shocking daytime stabbing in San Francisco, caught on camera, may have actually known the victim he attacked from behind, stabbing him in the back.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, a local business manager near the scene stated that police informed her and her colleagues that the suspect and the victim were acquainted.
The suspect, described by police as an Asian male in his 30s, was apprehended and charged with attempted murder, as reported by KTVU. During his interrogation, he required assistance from a Chinese language interpreter.
The disturbing video footage reveals the suspect nonchalantly approaching the victim from behind before suddenly stabbing him and fleeing the scene.
As the victim collapsed to the ground, passersby continued on their way, failing to offer any assistance.
The victim was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries but is anticipated to recover, according to KTVU.
The suspect, who has not been identified, was detained near the 600 block of Powell Street about 10 minutes after the incident.
The suspect’s motivation for the attack remains unclear. Cops told KTVU that the victim and assailant “appear to be local to the community.”
