Inside the 'Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Superheroes' launch event and special look at new comic-inspired cards

The Avengers have a new mission, and it’s right at your fingertips!

In an exciting collaboration, “Magic: The Gathering” has teamed up with Marvel to introduce a thrilling crossover. This partnership brings Marvel’s legendary heroes to life in the trading card game through fresh cards and stunning artwork created by Marvel comic artists.

To mark this monumental release, Wizards of the Coast— the creators behind “Magic: The Gathering”—organized a fan event filled with Marvel-themed photo opportunities and interactive gameplay sessions showcasing the new collection.

Olympic gold medalist and U.S. figure skater Amber Glenn is a passionate fan of “Magic: The Gathering.” She finds the game to be a calming pastime amidst the pressures of international competition.

“I’ve been focused on skating, skating, and more skating for a long time, so doing something different is incredibly exciting. I’m thrilled that one of my hobbies, which I genuinely love, has received such public attention and has been explored more,” she shared with On The Red Carpet.

For veteran player and collector Leonard Williams, he’s already decided which heroes will take the lead in his deck.

“I’m definitely looking forward to starting a deck with Thor,” he said.

For head designer Mark Rosewater, the collaboration was a dream come true.

“Our art department had a goal that we wanted a certain percentage of artists that actually did Marvel comics,” he said.

“So many artists were so excited, we blew past our goal, that they were very excited that they were able to make a “Magic” card. “Magic” is all about great art, Marvel is all about great art, so it was a perfect marriage.”

The new “Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Superheroes” set launches June 26.
