CHICAGO (WLS) — On Thursday night, Chicago police unveiled images of a car connected to the tragic hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of a 15-year-old girl. The girl, who was riding a scooter at the time, lost her life last month, while a 13-year-old companion sustained injuries.

The incident occurred on March 21 around 8:34 p.m. along the 2800 block of E. 77th Street in the South Shore area, authorities reported.

According to the police, the teenager was riding her scooter when a vehicle struck her and then sped away from the scene.
She was discovered lying on the road and was swiftly transported to the University of Chicago Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the victim as Violet D. Harris.

Chicago police said a 13-year-old girl was also hurt in the crash and was taken to a hospital in good condition.
Police have now released images of the vehicle wanted in connection to the crash.
The vehicle is a dark-colored Ford Fusion.

No further information about the vehicle was available.
Chicago police continue to investigate.
