Authorities in Arlington Heights, Illinois, are actively searching for two individuals suspected of defacing a political office with hateful symbols.

The incident occurred at the Republicans of Wheeling Township Office, where the vandals allegedly inscribed antisemitic imagery on the building’s exterior.

Surveillance footage captured late Sunday night shows a man wearing glasses and a woman, both clad in black, scrawling offensive language and what are reportedly Nazi symbols over a window display featuring the face of Charlie Kirk, a prominent figure in the community, as reported by ABC7 Chicago.

John Saletta, Deputy Committeeman for the office, expressed disappointment over the incident. “Charlie Kirk, who has roots in Arlington Heights and began his career with our organization, is someone we deeply respect. This act of vandalism is truly disheartening,” Saletta remarked.

Following an earlier act of vandalism in December, the office had installed surveillance cameras as a precautionary measure.

“Such acts of hatred are profoundly offensive, and we, as a community, are capable of better,” Saletta continued. “We believe in resolving our differences through constructive dialogue, a principle that Charlie Kirk himself championed.”

Saletta said he hopes the vandals decide to turn themselves in and do the right thing.

“We have floors of the legislature for talking about policy, trying to work out the best resolution to satisfy the wants and needs of the people, and it shouldn’t be about this,” Saletta said.

Saletta said he will not allow the vandalism to intimidate their work.

Arlington Heights police said the vandalism took place about 11 p.m. Sunday with a suspected marker.
