WATCH: Maryland carjacking suspect plows toward cops as they open fire

New body camera video released by authorities appears to show an alleged carjacking suspect accelerating toward police officers in Maryland, hitting one officer and several vehicles moments before officers fired as she tried to escape.

Anne Arundel County police said officers were called around 9 p.m. on May 7 to the area of North Crain Highway and 11th Avenue in Glen Burnie after a reported hit-and-run crash. Investigators said that when officers got there, they learned the woman had struck another vehicle with her car, then allegedly took a vehicle from a family member who had arrived to assist her.

Authorities later found the woman, identified as 28-year-old Jasmin L. Cooper, inside that vehicle in the 8500 block of Severn.

“So what, she stole her son’s car?” one officer can be heard asking during the encounter.

Moments later, Cooper pulled out of the parking spot and accelerated away, forcing nearby officers to move quickly to avoid being struck.
