Video Shows Bronx Brawl Escalate Before 12-Year-Old Boy Is Fatally Shot

Disturbing surveillance footage captures the instant a dispute outside a New York City bodega spiraled into a violent street fight — ending in gunfire that killed an innocent 12-year-old boy, the son of an NYPD officer, and left two other people wounded.

Video obtained by The Post shows the confrontation beginning between two men in a crosswalk outside Wanda Deli Grocery on Elliott Place near the Grand Concourse in the Bronx at about 4:50 p.m. Saturday.

Within moments, several men can be seen grappling in the street, appearing to struggle as though they were trying to wrest a gun away from someone.

Just then, Jacob Freytes — identified by sources as the 12-year-old son of an NYPD cop — emerges from the bodega after buying a ball and climbs onto his bike, seemingly unaware of the chaos about to erupt around him.

Jacob turns his head toward the commotion as a man wearing a white T-shirt moves toward the scuffle and appears to draw a gun from his waistband.

The silent video then shows Jacob abruptly leap off his bike and bolt back into the bodega, clutching the upper-right side of his chest near his shoulder.

The man in the white T-shirt, who had pointed the weapon toward the melee but did not appear to target Jacob, is then seen running down the street.

Additional graphic footage from an interior surveillance camera shows Jacob stumbling back inside the store while holding his wound before collapsing to the floor as horrified witnesses watch.

Jacob was rushed to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln with a gunshot wound through his shoulder, and was pronounced dead Saturday evening.

“His mom told me he was on the bike,” his devastated uncle, Julio Lopez, told The Post after returning from the hospital.

“The bullet went straight into his chest. He fell off the bike,” he added.

Jacob, who lived just around the corner from the shooting on Marcy Place, is the son of a detective, who returned from Connecticut when he heard the shocking news about his son, Lopez said.

Two other victims—a 34-year-old male and a 25-year-old male—were transported by private means to BronxCare Health System Hospital with gunshot wounds to the left foot and buttocks, respectively.

Their conditions were listed as stable.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.

It wasn’t immediately clear how many shots were fired.
