Virginia first responders moved swiftly to save a driver trapped inside a car that was sinking in a pond, forming a human chain during the dramatic rescue captured on video.
Fairfax County police officers and firefighters rushed into a pond in Chantilly on Sunday afternoon to reach the woman, whose silver vehicle was going under, according to police body-camera footage of the rescue posted online.
“It’s going down,” one officer yelled moments before three officers shed their vests so they would not be weighed down in the water, then jumped into the pond.

The officers reached the vehicle, got the driver out and called to people gathered on the grassy shoreline to begin forming a chain to help bring everyone back safely.
The responders and the driver were pulled to shore, and the woman was later treated for minor injuries, according to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.
Authorities have not said what led the driver into the pond, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
“This rescue is a testament to the teamwork, training, and dedication our Fairfax County first responders bring every day,” police said.
