ORLANDO, Fla. – A high-pressure system is making its way eastward across the Florida peninsula on Friday, ensuring the weather remains dry yet cool. Following a brisk morning, temperatures are expected to rise to nearly average levels by the afternoon, reaching around 70 degrees.

As the day progresses, clouds will gradually gather due to increasing moisture ahead of an incoming cold front. The night will be warmer than recent evenings, with temperatures dipping to the upper 40s and lower 50s.

    Looking Ahead to the Weekend

As we move into the weekend, notable changes are anticipated. A cold front is set to sweep south through the area, bringing stronger southwest winds on Saturday. These winds are expected to be particularly pronounced north of I-4, with speeds of 10 to 15 mph and gusts reaching up to 20 mph.

Saturday will predominantly remain dry; however, cloud cover will increase, giving the day a more unsettled feel.

The cold front is expected to pass through from Saturday night into Sunday, resulting in scattered showers. The likelihood of rain varies from 30% to 50%, with higher chances in the northern areas. A few showers might persist into Sunday, particularly along the coast south of Cape Canaveral, before drier conditions return later in the day.

Temperatures will stay fairly mild through the weekend. Highs Saturday will climb into the mid-70s, then cool slightly behind the front on Sunday. Even so, this is not a major cold blast. Most areas will still reach the 70s Sunday afternoon.

    Next Week

Looking ahead to next week, high pressure builds over the western Atlantic and becomes the main weather driver. This will bring generally light onshore winds and mostly dry conditions.

While a stray coastal shower can’t be ruled out, widespread rain is not expected.

The bigger story will be the warming trend, with temperatures climbing each day. Highs by the end of the week could reach the upper 70s to low 80s.
