A woman walking her dog through a wooded area in Canada had a terrifying encounter when a large bear began following her, according to a dramatic phone video that has since gone viral.
In the footage, the woman can be heard repeatedly yelling, “No! Go away,” while making loud noises in an effort to scare the animal off. The bear, however, continued trailing her along the road.
What began as a slow approach quickly escalated when the bear suddenly charged in her direction, circling as she backed away and screamed for it to leave her and her dog alone.
For nearly two tense minutes, the animal moved toward her and then retreated, at one point rising onto its hind legs several times and showing its imposing size.

The woman eventually managed to divert the bear’s attention by tossing what appeared to be a water bottle behind a gate. The video ends as she quickly moves away while the bear heads over to inspect the object.
According to Wilderness Escape Adventures in Alberta, which said on TikTok that it interviewed the woman, she had just picked up her morning coffee and intended to take only a brief walk with her dog near the campsite where she was staying with others.

The woman stayed calm during the encounter and didn’t run from the bear until it had moved away from her.
Experts say to never run from a bear because it can trigger their predatory instincts and bears can outrun humans at up to 35 mph.
