Foul ball 'cracking' skull of woman at Padres game heard around the world

In mere seconds, a night of baseball at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park spiraled into a scene of chaos. What began as a typical Friday evening game between the San Diego Padres and the Seattle Mariners took a terrifying turn when a foul ball darted into the stands, striking a fan and sparking a medical emergency.

The unfortunate incident involved a spectator named Jamie Golla, who was hit in the head by the speeding ball. The once lively, relaxed atmosphere of the ballpark was instantly replaced by a tense urgency as medical personnel rushed to her aid.

Jamie was quickly transported to Harborview Medical Center for necessary treatment, underscoring the seriousness of the situation. According to reports from the California Post, the incident occurred while Jamie was recording a video with a friend, prompted by a message from another friend named Aluna.

In the video, Jamie can be seen following the trajectory of the ball with her eyes. However, she momentarily looks away, believing the ball had been caught in the upper seating tier, just before the ball made contact with her.

The California Post learned the moment unfolded while Jamie was filming a video with a friend after receiving a message from another friend, Aluna.

In the clip, she appears to be tracking the ball with her eyes before briefly looking away, assuming it had been caught in the upper seating area, just moments before impact.

While play continued on the field, everything in the stands changed immediately as attention snapped to the injured fan and staff responded to the scene.

Jamie later addressed the viral attention and criticism, telling The Post, “I’m feeling a little better than yesterday. My head is still a bit swollen, and I’ve been getting minor headaches here and there, but overall I’m doing okay. I didn’t think this video was going to blow up. I appreciate the people who have been checking up on me.”

She also pushed back on online judgment, saying people are “really cruel and quick to judge, especially from a short clip without knowing the full situation,” while confirming she is recovering and no one else was injured.

Jamie said Mariners staff reached out by phone to check on her condition, requested updates from doctors, and later offered the group tickets to return for another game.

She added The M’s followed up again on Saturday.

Michaela Pollard also shared updates, telling The Post, “doing better than last night,” and noting the viral attention brought both concern and harsh online comments.

She said many people reached out to check on Jamie and credited the Mariners medical staff for their care during the incident.

Pollard also revealed the group is all from Seattle and expressed shock that the incident happened the way it did, saying they were stunned it was Jamie who was struck.

She added that the night continued in unexpected fashion after leaving Harborview, with the group riding Lime bikes to another bar where a second mishap occurred when a friend named Natalie fell and broke her front teeth.
