A track coach at Lakeland High School in Florida has been arrested for allegedly having inappropriate contact with a 16-year-old student and not disclosing that he was HIV-positive.

Jarvis Young, the 40-year-old track coach has been charged for similar crimes but was not convicted in year 2011 and 2017.
The 40-year-old track coach has been charged with sexual battery of a victim between 12-18 years of age, lewd and lascivious acts on a victim between 16-17 years of age, and abuse of a child without bodily harm, among other charges.
The victim claimed that the 40-year-old track coach touched him inappropriately while attempting to perform an oral sexual act.
The school district will be conducting a full investigation into how Young was hired as a track coach and will implement more frequent background checks in the future.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is urging any additional victims of the Florida track coach to come forward.
According to Miami Herald, the incident happened when the student sought help from the track coach for muscle soreness and improvement in strength and speed for track season.
Miami Herald added that the track coach claimed to be a trained massage therapist and offered to massage the student’s legs but he proceeded to touch the student inappropriately.
The HIV-positive track coach is no longer involved with the school district he was working before the incident
