A SEVEN-MONTH-OLD baby has been kidnapped during an attack on his mother outside a store in California.
Rebecca Haro has made an urgent appeal for the return of her son, Emmanuel, following an incident where she claims she was knocked out and her son was taken from her.
The frightening episode occurred as Rebecca was attempting to change her son’s diaper in her truck outside a sporting goods store in Yucaipa, San Bernardino County, on a Thursday evening.
Officers from the County Sheriff’s Department were called to a Big 5 parking lot just before 8 pm, sparking a frantic search for the missing baby.
“I’m begging you please, if you know anything, I’m begging you please bring him back,” implored Emmanuel’s mother while speaking to CBS affiliate KCAL News.
The mother of six recalled how she and her family were at football practice when she took Emmanuel with her to buy a mouthguard for her older son.
She explained that she noticed Emmanuel needed a fresh diaper and removed him from his car seat in the truck to lay him on the chair as she prepared a new diaper.
That was when she claims she was hit from behind and her son was kidnapped.
“Someone say, ‘Hola.’ I couldn’t even turn, I don’t remember nothing,” she said.
Rebecca, who was seen with a black eye from the incident, said she regained consciousness quickly but by then it was too late and her son was gone.
“I woke up here on the floor and I didn’t see Emmanuel,” she told KTLA News.
“All I remember, I saw white … I fell on the floor, and as soon as I got up, I couldn’t find my son.
“I checked all around my truck and I ran into Big 5 and I asked the lady if she saw a baby or someone with a baby. She said no.”
The family returned to the parking lot on Friday to hand out flyers and launch a search party.
“To the person who took my son, please just give him back to us we’ll forgive you,” Emmanuel’s father, Jake Haro, told the news outlet.
“We won’t bother you, we just want our baby boy.
“Keep him safe, don’t hurt him, make sure you feed and change him,” he tearfully added.
Deputies, dog units, and helicopters were launched on Thursday to join the search for the child and any evidence as officers look for suspects.
“On August 14, 2025, at around 7:47 p.m., deputies from the Yucaipa Station were dispatched to the 34000 block of Yucaipa Boulevard concerning a report of a missing seven-month-old boy,” the Sheriff’s Department stated in a statement.
“This is an active investigation, and we are seeking the public’s help in locating the child.
“The child was last seen in a black Nike onesie, weighing around 21 pounds, standing approximately 24 inches tall, with brown hair, brown eyes, and a cross-eyed appearance.“
“K9 Units with scent tracking dogs also responded and conducted and an exhaustive search for the child and any possible suspects,” the sheriff’s department later added in an update.
“If you have any information, please call 911 or Sheriff’s Dispatch at 909-387-8313.“
“He’s a happy boy,” Rebecca said of her son while speaking to KTLA.
“He was a healthy baby, he was crawling, he was kicking, he was playing with his toys.
“Whoever took our son, please give him back.”
The investigation is active and ongoing.
An AMBER alert has not been activated because there is no suspect or vehicle description, officials said.
