The Real World star with a band is still a rocker at 55... who is he?

Andre Comeau, the The Real World favorite remembered for his youthful looks and indie-rock career, has been seen in public at 55.

He first became known in 1992 as part of the inaugural cast of the MTV series, a groundbreaking show later recognized as an early blueprint for reality television.

The program also gave his band valuable exposure, with the group performing on camera, while Comeau’s relaxed charm quickly made him a standout with viewers.

Though that band eventually dissolved, Comeau has continued making rock music. His latest release is a single titled Wonderful Ride.

He was recently photographed in Los Angeles’ Echo Park neighborhood in a laid-back combination of a green T-shirt and fashionably distressed denim jeans.

Can you identify him?

Days ago, he was spotted out and about in the Echo Park area of Los Angeles, wearing a casual outfit of a green t-shirt and trendily frayed denim jeans

The musician is Andre Comeau, who appeared on the first season of The Real World alongside his fellow artist and rapper Heather B.

During his recent Echo Park outing, Comeau still wore his signature rocker-style long hair, although the dark brown shade he had in the 1990s has now turned gray.

The Real World helped establish the reality TV formula: a group of young strangers placed in one home while cameras document the conflicts and relationships that follow.

Comeau’s rebellious charm and unconventional life as frontman of the struggling rock group Reigndance made him especially popular among the show’s audience.

At the time, he admitted that maintaining a “steady relationship” was difficult because he felt “too tied down” and could fall prey to “the wandering eye thing.”

Viewers were also drawn to his close relationship with his mother, a musician who had performed in a family band, as well as his easygoing, self-mocking humor.

On one occasion, police shut down a Reigndance rehearsal after neighbors complained about the noise. When an officer sarcastically asked whether the band accepted requests, Comeau fired back: “How about I Fought the Law and the Law Won?”

MTV promoted him as “the prototypical Gen X guy,” while the New York Times later offered a sharper description, calling him the “embodiment of Gen X slackerdom.”

Comeau was reportedly so uncomfortable with his television appearance that he canceled his cable subscription, explaining nearly 20 years later in an interview with the blog Generations of Gotham: “I couldn’t stand to see myself on TV.”

Comeau's rakish magnetism and bohemian life as the frontman of a small-time rock band called Reigndance endeared him to many viewers

Comeau joined The Real World hoping to gain “exposure” for Reigndance. Instead, he later said, many of the new listeners were “teenyboppers who bought our album and then threw it away as soon as the next flavor of the month came along.”

His bandmates were simultaneously ‘grateful’ for the notoriety and ‘resentful’ insofar as ‘the attention we were getting wasn’t the right kind.’

Reigndance dissolved in 1997, but Comeau remained in the music industry, first in a folk group called River Rouge that disbanded in 2016 and then as a solo artist signed to a label whose owners included Megadeth bassist David Ellefson.

In an interview he gave a few years ago about his music career, Comeau was able to take a more philosophical attitude to his early reality TV fame than he previously had.

‘The Real World thing, for a long time, was something I disconnected with, and at the time, it was really its own thing. For a long time, I didn’t even talk about it,’ he said.

‘But as the World has evolved into the reality based, unscripted, instantly-gratified place it is now, it’s easier to look back and see the importance of The Real World, and what we were all a part of,’ he reflected to the website Brave Words.

‘There were times it definitely felt like a counter-active force, but in hindsight, it truly was incredible to be a part of what would become the ground zero of the almost complete evolution and transformation of entertainment as we know it.’
