They portrayed conflicted lovers, grappling with each other as they rolled through a field, embodying the internal struggle of their tumultuous relationship in the music video for her track Chihiro.
However, there was no hint of tension between Billie Eilish and Nat Wolff as they enjoyed a romantic boat trip in Venice, shortly after confirming their relationship with passionate kisses over champagne in the city known for love.
The two, who had previously dismissed rumors of being more than friends, boldly showcased their blossoming romance on a balcony on Saturday, with a source revealing they transitioned into lovers because they could no longer ‘deny the chemistry’ between them.
‘The relationship between Nat and Billie was a long time coming,’ a source told the Daily Mail. ‘It was based on an initial friendship from years ago and a trust that turned romantic and they couldn’t ignore the chemistry, with both diving in headfirst.
‘They hang out loads, they have toured with each other, vacationed together and he’s been in her music videos. Becoming a couple was the next logical step.
‘They are both very close to their families which is one big reason why they work. They’re almost the same person and have many similarities.’

It came after the pair, who previously denied being more than friends, brazenly flaunted their new romance on a balcony in Venice, Italy, last weekend
The insider added that the relationship works because 23-year-old Eilish ‘doesn’t have the worry that Nat is out for fame, as he already has his own.’
The LA native, 30, is no stranger to the industry – or the wealth it can afford. His father Michael Wolff is a jazz musician and his mother Polly Draper an actress whose grandfather was venture capitalist William Henry Draper Jr. – the first US Ambassador to NATO.
Fame first came licking at Nat’s heels in his early teens when he starred in Nickelodeon series The Naked Brothers Band – the brainchild of his mother – alongside his younger brother Alex Wolff in 2007.
The boys now make music as indie duo, Nat & Alex Wolff, and toured with Eilish last year. Nat has also enjoyed a smattering of roles in films including Paper Towns with Cara Delevingne, and The Fault in Our Stars with Shailene Woodley.
It is not clear exactly when Nat and Eilish, who both have Tourette Syndrome, met, but his brother Alex waxed lyrical about the songstress at an Oscar’s party in 2023, months before she broke up with boyfriend Jesse Rutherford, who was 11 years her senior.
The pair then attended Coachella together in April 2024, and Nat later appeared in Eilish’s video for Chihiro. In September, Nat and Alex opened for Eilish during her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour.

Rumblings of a romance increased in October when Nat expressed his awe for the Grammy winner, telling Vogue: ‘She’s one of those people where almost everything she does, she does better than everyone else… You just have to kind of submit to the fact that she’s going to be better than everyone else at everything.’
Then in March, rumors piqued when they reportedly left the iHeartRadio Music Awards together. Days later, they stepped out in New York City.
But their balcony love-in and Venice canal cruise has raised eyebrows for some, coming two years after Eilish declared ‘I am for the girls’ following a ruckus over her ‘coming out’ story.
The Birds of a Feather singer revealed to Variety in 2023 that she was ‘attracted physically’ to women.
In a follow up red carpet interview with the publication, she said she thought her sexuality ‘was obvious.’
‘I’ve been doing this for a long time and I just didn’t talk about it… whoops,’ she said. ‘I saw all the articles [and] was like, “Oh, I guess I came out today… OK, cool”.’
‘But it’s exciting to me because I guess people didn’t know, so it’s cool that they know. I’m nervous talking about it… but I am for the girls.’
She then accused Variety of ‘outing’ her instead of talking to her ‘about anything else that matters.’

At the time, the Daily Mail reported that her split from Rutherford ‘was definitely related to her affinity for women.’
She alluded to her sexuality on Lunch, a track on her recent album, which dropped in May last year, revealing it was monumental in helping her discover ‘who she is.’
‘I wrote some of it before even doing anything with a girl and then wrote the rest after,’ she told Rolling Stone. ‘I’ve been in love with girls for my whole life, but I just didn’t understand – until last year, [when] I realized I wanted my face in a vagina.’
Fans were quick to brand the song a ‘lesbian anthem’ and a huge ‘win for the gays.’
Our insider said Eilish ‘still recognizes herself as bisexual, but right now she is choosing a chance at love with Nat,’ who previously dated actress Margaret Qualley and was briefly linked to Suki Waterhouse.
‘Their connection is very strong and those who are close to them are not surprised that love has blossomed,’ our insider said. ‘Everyone seems very happy for them.’
