CHICAGO (WLS) — A teenager and an adult man have been charged following a violent carjacking spree that turned deadly earlier this month, according to Chicago police.

Authorities announced the arrests of Marquese Hill, 18, from Chicago, and a 17-year-old male on Thursday. Both individuals are facing charges that include first-degree murder and aggravated vehicular hijacking. Due to his age, the name of the 17-year-old has not been disclosed.

The pair are accused of committing two murders and several carjackings on Wednesday, February 11.

Police reports indicate the crime spree began with the carjacking and fatal shooting of a man in the Lakeview area, specifically in the 700-block of West Waveland, just before 4 a.m.

The victim, identified by family members as 22-year-old Darwin Tirado, was killed in the incident. A 38-year-old man who was also in the vehicle managed to escape unharmed.

Darwin Tirado, 22, was the man shot and killed, family members say. Another man inside the car, a 38-year-old, was not injured.

Less than one hour later, the suspects shot and killed 45-year-old Damon Kellum in the Oakland neighborhood’s 3700-block of South Lake Park Avenue, officials said.

Police said the suspects also tried to take a vehicle at gunpoint from a 70-year-old man in the Fuller Park neighborhood’s 4200-block of South Wentworth Avenue.

The suspects then carjacked a 38-year-old man in the West Chatham neighborhood’s 8600-block of South Lafayette Avenue just before 5:15 a.m., police said.

Police said Hill is also charged in connection with a Jan. 10 carjacking. It happened in the West Rogers Park neighborhood’s 7500-block of North Claremont Avenue around 4 a.m.

Hill is due in court on Saturday.
