American track and field athlete Jeremy Mathew Wariner (born January 31, 1984 in Irving, Texas) is most known for his 400-meter dash performance. He has four Olympic medals (three gold and one silver) to his credit, as well as six World Championship gold medals. With a personal best of 43.45 seconds, he is the third fastest athlete in the history of the 400 m event, after Michael Johnson (43.18 WR, 1999) and Butch Reynolds (43.29 WR, 1988), and he has the fifth fastest all-time record, which he achieved in 2007. 

Wariner was a standout collegiate athlete who went on to win gold medals in the 400 m and 4 x 400 m relay events in his first Olympics in Athens in 2004. He then went on to win two gold medals in the 2005 World Championships in the same events, which he repeated in 2006. As the only athlete to go unbeaten in the 400 m race throughout the 2006 F Golden League, he was awarded the $250,000 top prize. 

The 2007 Osaka World Championships saw him retain his World Championship titles in the 400 m individual and relay events, earning him the ESPY Award for Best Male Track Athlete for 2007. At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, he earned the gold medal in the 4×400 m relay, but he finished second in the 400 m, finishing behind fellow countryman LaShawn Merritt, who finished first. Wariner won the silver medal in the 2009 World Championships, finishing second to Merritt for the second time in a row.
