In a bid to quell the swirling conspiracy theories surrounding the demise of Turning Point USA’s founder, Charlie Kirk, those closest to him have stepped forward to set the record straight.

Andrew Kolvet, the executive producer of the widely-followed Charlie Kirk Show, addressed these unfounded speculations on Monday, particularly those casting suspicion on Kirk’s confidant, Mikey McCoy. Allegations have emerged suggesting McCoy’s actions were questionable immediately following the tragic shooting.

Kolvet did not mince words, denouncing what he called an “extremely disgusting attack” on McCoy, who was not only Kirk’s chief of staff but also his trusted friend. He firmly dismissed the theories alleging McCoy’s “swift departure” from the scene and the supposed mystery of him using his phone during the incident.

These controversial claims gained attention after being initially propagated by two relatively unknown creators. The theories gained further traction when Candace Owens, a prominent and often provocative ally of Kirk’s, spotlighted them, even going so far as to draw improbable connections between his death and Israel.

“Someone made a video that is attacking Mikey, Charlie’s friend, Charlie’s chief of staff—a person we all know well, someone who’s been a frequent presence on the show in recent weeks,” Kolvet explained with evident frustration.

He continued, “They are going after him, suggesting that based on just a few fleeting clips, he had a supposedly nonchalant or calm reaction to Charlie’s murder, which is simply unfounded.”

‘I’m just going to be blunt about this. This is an extremely disgusting attack,’ he added.

The Turning Point USA top brass have not shied away from addressing the conspiracy theories surrounding Kirk — even going as far as to confirm the veracity of text messages in which he discussed Israel.

Kolvet slammed the 'extremely disgusting attack' on Kirk's closest friend as he rubbished theories about McCoy which swirl around his 'swift departure' from the scene, while 'mysteriously' using his phone (pictured: a red circle on McCoy moments before the shooting)

The assault on McCoy stems from a video made by right-wing creators Ian Caroll and James Li that was released on Friday.

Fellow right-wing YouTuber Owens led her audience to draw similar conclusions during an episode of her own show that aired Monday afternoon.

Owens said: ‘Mikey was behind the tent when Charlie got shot and Mikey, in less than a second, does something that I find to be quite strange. He puts his phone to his ear and he begins a conversation.’

The provocateur played the clip showing McCoy with his phone up to his ear immediately after Kirk was shot.

Owens claims that ‘there was no dialing, Mikey didn’t have time to dial.’

‘[When I asked McCoy who he was on the phone with], no response,’ Owens said. ‘Weird. If that was me… I would instantly hit back… Here’s my call log. Here’s who I was on the phone with.’

Kolvet said that he had spoken to McCoy about what he did afterwards, but that both of them were so traumatized and in shock at the time they struggle to remember.

McCoy does recall however that he called Erika Kirk, Charlie’s wife, and then his father, pastor Robert McCoy.

‘Charlie had given me similar instructions, if anything ever happens to me you call Erika, and he drilled that into Mikey’s brain so that when this moment of trauma happened, that he turned around and he knew he had to do it,’ Kolvet said.

‘This is part of the video allegations here, they think that, they’re alleging that he was on the phone immediately. He was not. He was taking social videos which he would send to our group chat, which we would then put on Charlie’s social while the event was happening.’

He added that Kirk was only two questions into the event at Utah Valley University when the assassin opened fire, meaning McCoy was using his phone already.

‘It was so blaringly loud, and he was so shellshocked, he put his fingers in his ear, but his phone was still in his hand,’ Kolvet added.

When asked for additional comment by the Daily Mail about Kolvet, Owens responded: ‘My best advice to Mikey McCoy would be to simply release his call logs to clarify matters to any of the content creators who are asking questions. Truth is clarifying.’

Owens also said during the Monday evening episode of her show, that she thought she ‘would be fighting for answers for what actually happened on 9/10 alongside Charlie Kirk’s inner circle.’

Kirk was shot dead on September 10 while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University. Tyler Robinson, 22, a left-wing college dropout, has been charged with his assassination.

Kirk’s widow, Erika, joined President Donald Trump at the White House earlier this month to accept the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously on her husband’s behalf.

Kirk had built Turning Point USA into one of the most influential conservative youth organizations in America, known for its campus activism and annual conferences that drew thousands of young conservatives.

After his death, Erika publicly delivered a statement vowing to carry on his work as the new CEO of the organization.

Trump memorably eulogized Kirk at his memorial service days later and comforted Erika who mourned the loss of her husband.

‘We know the weight of this monumental loss is almost unbearable,’ he said.

‘But even in the midst of heartache and pain too great to even fathom, you have somehow found the strength and deep faith to be a comfort to millions and millions of people.’

More than 60,000 people attended the service which was held at State Farm Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals NFL team.
