Ilhan Omar whines that she's living 'paycheck to paycheck' after reporting $30 million fortune

Ilhan Omar says she is still living “paycheck to paycheck,” despite a financial disclosure that initially indicated businesses connected to her husband could be worth as much as $30 million.

The Minnesota congresswoman made the comment in an interview with MS NOW after being asked about her personal financial circumstances.

“I mean, you know, it’s working class. I guess paycheck to paycheck still,” Omar said.

As evidence of the couple’s relatively modest lifestyle, she pointed to their car, saying she drives a 2016 Toyota Camry—the only vehicle they own.

“That sounds like not the majority of Congress, but there’s some of us that don’t come from wealth and don’t have wealth,” she said.

Omar’s remarks have renewed attention on a financial disclosure filed last year that initially valued assets tied to her husband, political consultant Timothy Mynett, at between $6 million and $30 million.

The filing identified Mynett’s interests in Rose Lake Capital, a venture capital management company, and eStCru, a California winery.

The reported increase in the couple’s apparent wealth drew scrutiny from Republicans, including House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, who requested financial records from the companies.

Omar¿s comments revive questions about a financial disclosure filed last year that initially listed assets linked to her husband, political consultant Timothy Mynett, at between $6 million and $30 million

Omar’s comments have renewed questions about a financial disclosure filed last year that initially listed assets connected to her husband, political consultant Timothy Mynett, at between $6 million and $30 million.

Her campaign quickly turned her home raid into a fundraising pitch, urging supporters to ¿Stand with Ilhan Omar¿ and accusing President Donald Trump and the Department of Homeland Security of launching a ¿baseless, partisan investigation'

Her campaign quickly turned the search of her home into a fundraising appeal, urging supporters to “Stand with Ilhan Omar” while accusing President Donald Trump and the Department of Homeland Security of pursuing a “baseless, partisan investigation.”

Omar later amended the disclosure, saying the original figures resulted from an accounting error.

The revised filing reported the couple’s combined assets as ranging from $18,004 to $95,000. It also assigned no value to the two businesses after liabilities were deducted.

Omar’s office has maintained that she is not a millionaire, while a congressional watchdog voted to dismiss misconduct allegations linked to the disclosure.

Her latest comments come amid renewed scrutiny following a federal search of her Washington home—an incident her campaign has cited in appeals for donations.

Homeland Security Investigations agents searched the property on October 12 as part of an ongoing federal investigation.

The Justice Department confirmed that the search was authorized by a court. Reports said investigators were examining immigration paperwork completed by Omar’s late father when she was a child.

Omar has denied any wrongdoing and accused the Trump administration of using federal law enforcement against its political adversaries.

During the MS NOW interview, Omar also said she had been left fearful for her safety after receiving death threats. She said the attention surrounding the search had made it difficult for her family to feel secure in their own home.

She said she intended to move away from the Washington, DC, area because of concerns about threats and the intense public focus on her family.

Mynett initially brushed off concerns about the investigation, telling Fox News Digital on October 14 that he had ‘no concerns’ about it.

But the following day, Mynett lashed out at reporters covering the story, complaining that they were ‘annoying the hell out of all the neighbors.’

Her campaign quickly turned the episode into a fundraising pitch, urging supporters to ‘Stand with Ilhan Omar’ and accusing President Donald Trump and the Department of Homeland Security of launching a ‘baseless, partisan investigation.’

‘Chip in whatever you can to make sure Ilhan can beat Trump and keep fighting for our progressive values in Congress,’ the email read.

The campaign also asked supporters to contribute $10 or whatever amount they could afford, framing the investigation as an attack on Omar and the broader progressive movement.

Omar has continued to speak out against the search, thanking supporters who sent messages and donations in its aftermath.

However, the investigation remains ongoing, and the search itself does not establish that Omar committed a crime.
