Kimberly Guilfoyle has suffered another setback following her abrupt departure as U.S. ambassador to Greece: Sources tell Our News Outlet that she will not receive the traditional farewell from the country’s president.
The ambassador, who resigned Tuesday, would normally have paid courtesy visits to senior Greek officials as her diplomatic posting came to an end under ordinary circumstances.
Instead, the allegations that prompted the Trump administration to seek her resignation have ruled out any ceremonial send-off or informal farewell with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas, according to Our News Outlet.
‘Protocol calls for every departing ambassador to meet with the head of state, the prime minister and the foreign minister,’ said a senior source at the U.S. Embassy in Athens.
‘However, because of her sudden ousting, she will not be permitted to say goodbye.’
Tasoulas’s office confirmed to Our News Outlet that there are currently no plans for Guilfoyle to make a formal farewell, known as a ‘protocol visit.’
A senior aide to Tasoulas, however, speculated that Guilfoyle could attempt to arrange a farewell herself.
‘She is so brazen that no one is ruling out the possibility that she might show up anyway and try to force a grand farewell despite her current disgrace,’ the aide said. ‘Anyone would be deeply embarrassed to do that, but this is Kimberly.’

The diplomatic snub comes as Guilfoyle’s sudden departure continues to unsettle the U.S. Embassy in Athens.
‘This is unprecedented,’ said one of the mission’s longest-serving staff members, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
‘We have never seen such a violent beheading of the mission. These removals usually happen quietly. This was abrupt.’
Guilfoyle’s fall came just days after The Wall Street Journal reported that she had allegedly asked Trump donor Eric Deters to cover a $100,000 credit card bill shortly before her July 2025 Senate confirmation hearing. According to the report, she texted that the payment ‘won’t show up anywhere.’
Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who visited Athens last week, described Guilfoyle as ‘a strong ambassador’ but said he did not know whether the allegations were accurate.
Before Rubio’s visit, Guilfoyle reportedly asked State Department officials to have Our News Outlet’s exclusive report about an unpaid €1,586 ($1,778) dinner bill removed, The Journal reported.
The Journal said Guilfoyle did not provide a receipt when State Department officials requested proof that she had paid the bill. Sources familiar with the exchange previously told Our News Outlet that the charge was ultimately sent to the embassy.
Guilfoyle addressed her resignation Tuesday, saying she would ‘vigorously defend’ herself against the allegations that led to her departure.

Guilfoyle would normally have received a ceremonial send-off from Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas or other government officials before leaving her post. She is pictured meeting Tasoulas in November 2025

One longtime embassy insider, who recently retired after serving under numerous ambassadors, questioned whether Guilfoyle had been left exposed as the scandal unfolded.
‘It makes you wonder whether this was really an ending or whether this all played out like it was supposed to,’ said the source.
‘We all knew this ambassadorship had an expiration date. But it does seem like she was played.’
The former staffer said no public-affairs operation shielded her as the story broke, or even as she took on the post.
Everything, the insider said, was ‘devoid of any and every semblance of protocol.’
The source also claimed Guilfoyle appeared to play her last card with Rubio, who flew in for the US-Greece Strategic Dialogue just as the Wall Street Journal broke the story about her dealings.
‘She was all over him, obsessive,’ the source said. ‘Perhaps the most telling moment was her last moments with him, when she gave him a massive bear hug, ringing to everyone in the know, “Save me, please.”‘
Footage of the pair’s farewell was broadcast live across Greece.

Meanwhile, Guilfoyle’s 11-month tenure is still being chewed over by embassy staff, some of whom made little effort to hide their relief of her departure.
‘There is no semblance of shock, rather relief that she’s been fired. She was horrible and mean and spoke down to just about everybody,’ one senior source said.
The source added: ‘She simply wouldn’t listen to anyone, even the most experienced career diplomats surrounding her.
‘And she was set up to succeed. The guard rails were there to protect her, but she completely defied them and openly said “I’m going to do what I want to do.”
‘She reminds you of someone…she came in and operated with the air of a female Donald Trump.’
Even those who grew close to Guilfoyle during her stint said they were deliberately giving her space amid the fallout.
‘No one is calling her today,’ the friend said.
The source described Guilfoyle, the former fiancée of Donald Trump Jr, as ‘such a smart and canny person’ who knew ‘from day one why she was here – tossed away as far away as possible from Don Jr.’
‘Even if she was in angst about this, she would have never shown or revealed the extent of it,’ the friend said.
‘She’s an amazing gal. And rest assured, she will not get lost in the maelstrom.’

Guilfoyle took up her position in Greece on November 4, 2025, and began a controversial reign that has now resulted in serious allegations against her
Earlier this week, insiders alleged to Our News Outlet that Guilfoyle has kept a secret ‘burn book’ – dubbed ‘The Devil Wears MAGA’ by insiders – documenting the Trump family, and is ready to burn bridges.
At the embassy Tuesday night, where Guilfoyle has reportedly been holed up, the entrance was sealed and almost lifeless.
Only three of the floodlights along its whitewashed walls were lit, and two guards stood at the front gate.
At about 7.07pm, a bulky dark SUV accompanied by an escort car swept into the compound, although it was unclear who was inside.
Lights inside Guilfoyle’s office at the Athens embassy were on Wednesday, although her exact whereabouts and departure plans remain unknown.
Her official residence, Jefferson House, was surrounded by high walls, with a lone Greek police officer stationed outside.
