Melania Trump has offered a rare glimpse into family life with her son, Barron, appearing to suggest that the 20-year-old may not be seeking as much time with his mother as he once did.
The 56-year-old first lady discussed her demanding schedule during an appearance on Fox Business’s The Big Money Show on Wednesday. Co-host Taylor Riggs asked how she manages to make time for her family while balancing her public duties.
Melania acknowledged that she does not see President Donald Trump or their son as often as she would like, given the pressures of their respective schedules.
She also appeared to indicate that Barron, who is studying at New York University, is now more independent and may not always want to spend as much time with her.
‘You are so busy and you’re such an inspiration to young moms out there who are trying to do it all – [you] run businesses, charities, organize state dinners, run a family,’ Riggs said.
‘Do you still try to get your family together for Sunday night dinners or try to see Barron when you can? What are pieces of advice for moms who feel like they’re so stretched thin, trying to do it all, but at the end of the day just want maybe a dinner at night with their family?’ she asked the mother-of-one.
Melania said her main advice for busy parents is to make family time part of the calendar before other commitments take over.
‘It’s good to schedule, it’s always good because everybody’s so busy,’ she explained.

She went on to describe the difficulty of finding time with both her husband and her son while each navigates a demanding routine.
‘My husband is working – sometimes he’s in the Oval Office until 9.30 at night, so do you wait [until then to] have dinner? You don’t. He’s busy, I’m busy too,’ she said.
‘It’s less and less family time, [and there’s] suffering because of it. But that’s okay. We are here to work, to do a good job, and that’s what matters.’
‘Barron is already a young man, so sometimes he’s maybe even happy that I just want to do my stuff. And that’s okay,’ she added.
Her comments came weeks after reports claimed that Barron had withdrawn into a tight security bubble amid concerns about political violence surrounding his father.
‘He doesn’t go out,’ one longtime Trumpworld figure told The Post at the time.
‘The kid’s pretty reclusive,’ a second source added.
However, reports also indicated that Barron spent much of the summer with his mother at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey, despite Melania’s remarks about their limited time together.

Barron was most recently seen publicly on July 19, when he met FIFA president Gianni Infantino at the World Cup final in New Jersey
The President has survived at least three assassination attempts in three years, including the shooting that wounded him at Butler, Pennsylvania, a would-be assassin who stalked him at his West Palm Beach golf course that September, and the gunman who attacked the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in April.
His son has drawn the attention of Iranian regime hardliners who recently released a video titled ‘Where to kill Barron Trump’ that claimed to track his movements and put a $10million bounty on his head.
He was also reportedly shaken by the September 2025 assassination of conservative activist and friend Charlie Kirk.
‘This is what happens when you go out there. This is what happened,’ Barron told Trump while breaking the news of Kirk’s death.
The exchange, first reported by Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan in their book Regime Change, ended with the President telling his son: ‘Calm down, honey, calm down.’
Barron’s first known meeting with Kirk came years ago over lunch after he personally asked his father to arrange an introduction to the conservative activist.
Sources told Our News Outlet that they were more understanding of Barron’s desire to stay out of the public eye.
‘I can’t even imagine what it’s like growing up in the White House and then seeing your dad get shot and then Charlie Kirk gets shot,’ a source in Trumpworld told Our News Outlet.
The First Lady’s office responded to reports of her son’s reclusiveness by saying that ‘in light of recent threats,’ the East Wing asks that ‘any details concerning his private life be excluded from all coverage.’
Barron’s last public appearance was at the FIFA World Cup 2026 final match between Spain and Argentina in New Jersey in July.
He also attended the UFC Freedom 250 fights on the South Lawn of the White House in June.
Both of the events had high levels of security to keep attendees safe, which was part of the reason Barron was comfortable attending, a source told Our News Outlet.
