In the latest findings from a Daily Mail/JL Partners survey, a majority of Americans seem skeptical of Donald Trump’s claims regarding his association with Jeffrey Epstein, the notorious financier and convicted sex offender. The poll, conducted this month, revealed that 56 percent of voters believe Trump has been less than truthful about the extent of their relationship. Specifically, respondents felt he has been either ‘not truthful at all’ or ‘not very much’ so. Conversely, 24 percent of those surveyed think Trump has been ‘somewhat’ honest, while a mere 21 percent believe he has been ‘very much’ truthful.

Interestingly, these opinions about Trump’s honesty concerning Epstein do not appear to significantly sway public perception of the former president. Among the 1,246 participants in the online poll, conducted between November 19 and 20, a notable 52 percent indicated that the recent disclosures in the Epstein files would not have influenced their vote in the 2024 election. Only 17 percent claimed that the emails released by the House Oversight Committee would have altered their voting decision, with an equal percentage suggesting the revelations could have actually increased their likelihood of supporting Trump.

The White House has remained silent on the poll’s outcomes, declining to comment when approached by the Daily Mail. Trump, on the other hand, has maintained that his ties with Epstein soured long ago, stating he expelled Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago club in 2007. He further insists that no friendship existed between them following that year and denies ever visiting Epstein’s private island, where illegal activities are alleged to have occurred. Earlier this month, while speaking to the press aboard Air Force One, Trump reiterated, “Jeffrey Epstein and I had a very bad relationship for many years.”

Like many New York celebrities and business figures, Trump ran in Epstein’s circle and was pictured several times in social settings with him and co-conspirator and long-time girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence. The president says that they stopped associating in the 2000s because Epstein was a ‘creep.’ On November 12, the House Oversight Committee released thousands of pages of documents that included emails showing Epstein discussing Trump after the alleged 2007 break.

It showed a 2011 email from Epstein to Maxwell saying: ‘[Redacted victim] spent hours at my house with him… I want you to realize that that dog that hasn’t barked is trump… he has never once been mentioned.’ This was years after Epstein served 13-months for underage sexual crimes. In a 2019 email to author Michael Wolff, Epstein claimed he was never a member of Mar-a-Lago.

‘Trump said he asked me to resign, never a member ever. Of course he knew about the girls as he asked Ghislaine to stop,’ he wrote. Only 18 percent of respondents say that recent developments have changed their opinion. Meanwhile, 64 percent say it has not impacted how they feel about the Epstein-Trump relationship and the extent of the president’s involvement in his crimes.
