Kemi Badenoch – Trump shouldn’t abandon mess in Middle East
Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the Conservative Party, recently urged former U.S. President Donald Trump to take responsibility for the ongoing situation in the Middle East, emphasizing the importance of addressing the “mess” he created.
During an interview, Badenoch was questioned about whether the special relationship between the UK and the US was at risk due to Britain’s decision to stay out of the conflict and subsequent criticisms from Trump. She clarified, “The special relationship exists between the UK and the US, not specifically between Donald Trump and Keir Starmer or whoever might be in office at the time.”
She continued, “It’s crucial that we maintain this relationship. The United States is a vital military ally, contributing significantly to British security. Our actions must align with the British national interest.”
Badenoch referenced former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, saying, “If I were speaking to Trump, I’d remind him of Powell’s words: ‘If you break it, you own it.'”
She further stressed, “Trump initiated this conflict. The UK has offered support, including the use of our air bases against Iran. He should not walk away from the situation he has created, especially if he acknowledges it’s problematic.”
