The identity of the remains has yet to be confirmed as that of the missing man, Alfred Munson, who disappeared on May 24. The Medical Examiner is currently working on identifying the remains.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — On Friday, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office located human remains during the search for a man reported missing on May 24. At this moment, the remains have not been conclusively identified as belonging to Alfred Waymon Munson.

The remains were found by a canine team in a wooded area in the 2100 block of Carter Braxton Road in Orange Park.

The District 4 Medical Examiner’s Office will work to identify and examine the remains.

Authorities discovered Munson’s vehicle, a blue 2001 Honda Civic with two doors, left on Camp Francis Johnson Road close to its intersection with Bottomridge Drive in Orange Park on May 27.

Police say there is nothing to suggest a threat to the public.

If you have any information related to Munson, or his whereabouts and associates in late May, or the investigation on Carter Braxton Road, call the Clay County Sheriff’s Office at (904) 264-6512. Tips may also be submitted anonymously through the SaferWatch app or to First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS (8477).
