Borussia Dortmund are reportedly willing to re-sign Jadon Sancho on a permanent deal, but only if Manchester United accept less than half of the £73m they forked out for him in 2021.

The 23-year-old re-joined the Bundesliga side on loan until the end of the season in January, following his public falling out with United boss Erik ten Hag.

Sancho, who has scored in recent wins for Dortmund over PSV Eindhoven and Werder Bremen, seems happy playing football again for the club he previously scored 50 goals in 137 appearances between 2017 and 2021.

However, Dortmund would only sign Sancho if United accept a £30m deal for the winger – £43m less than what United paid up in 2021.

More talks are expected in the coming weeks, with Sancho ‘happy’ and ‘feeling the trust’ from the Bundesliga side.

However, changes within the United set-up could affect whether the England international stays at Old Trafford or leaves.

Ten Hag’s future at the club is not certain, while it’s unclear how new owners Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS plan to deal with him.

Should Ten Hag keep his job past the end of the season, it would appear likely that Sancho would leave the club.

Sancho was exiled from the first-team squad after he hit back at the Dutchman’s claims that he was left out of the squad due to poor performance in training.

Straight after Ten Hag spoke to the media, Sancho fired back in a statement on social media which read: ‘Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week.

‘I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair!’

Sancho refused to apologise for his comments, which led to his loan exit during the January transfer window.

However, even before his falling out with Ten Hag, Sancho’s levels at Old Trafford failed to reach those that he set during his first spell at Borussia Dortmund.

In 82 appearances for the Red Devils he scored just 12 goals, but struggled to land a regular starting place.
