The Princess of Wales navigates the fashion landscape with confidence.
While floral dresses were once her go-to, Kate has developed a strong preference for trouser suits, choosing professional looks that align with her role as Queen-in-waiting.
The royal skillfully adds a contemporary twist to formalwear, maintaining her vibrant style through her clever use of colour.
And she consistently demonstrates her commitment to sustainable fashion by refreshing and repeating key pieces, blending femininity with an authoritative aesthetic.
Below, we celebrate Kate’s finest trouser suits to date.
Chartreuse chic
The Princess of Wales made a sartorial statement as she arrived at the British Fashion Council in May to present the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design.
Channelling 70s-inspired glamour, Kate opted for a chartreuse trouser suit by Victoria Beckham, priced at £1,340.
The tailored ensemble featured a longline single-breasted blazer and wide-leg trousers with distinctive patch pocket detailing – an eye-catching yet elegant choice.
Kate completed the ensemble with her reliable Ralph Lauren court shoes and Queen Elizabeth’s Bahrain Pearl Earrings, bringing a regal touch to the striking look.

Pastel perfection
In 2022, Kate selected an Alexander McQueen suit for a meeting with her Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood.
The Princess radiated elegance in the £2,480 pastel pink two-piece, featuring a tailored single-breasted jacket and cigarette trousers.
The former showcased the brand’s signature slanted pockets, providing a distinctive and instantly recognisable touch.
In May 2023, Kate revisited the suit, this time pairing it with a coordinating pink blouse, Camilla Elphick pearl belt, Maria Black earrings and Gianvito Rossi pumps.

Radiant in red
Kate’s choice of a scarlet Alexander McQueen suit for key events in 2023, such as the Coronation Concert and the launch of her Shaping Us campaign, carries significant symbolism.
Red is often associated with power, confidence and passion, making it a fitting choice for events where she played a central, influential role.
This particular two-piece incorporated an asymmetric blazer with peak lapels, padded shoulders and an asymmetric hem, paired with wide-leg trousers.
On both occasions, Kate accessorised with a matching Miu Miu clutch and Gianvito Rossi pumps, emphasising the impact of her outfit.

Purple majesty
Kate showcased her affinity for colour in this striking plum Emilia Wickstead suit.
It is believed that Kate commissioned the suit directly from the designer. It appeared on the runway during the autumn/winter 2021 show, but was not offered as part of the ready-to-wear collection.
The sartorial masterpiece, combining elegance and modernity, comprised a double-breasted blazer and straight-leg trousers.
The Princess has worn the suit publicly on two occasions: first in September 2021 during a visit to Londonderry, and again in 2023 for the inaugural Shaping Us National Symposium.

White wonder
Kate’s white Alexander McQueen suit is a fine example of her penchant for tailored elegance.
She first wore this outfit at the Commonwealth Games in August 2022, making a bold statement with its clean lines and contemporary silhouette.
She later donned the £2,480 suit in Jamaica in March 2022 and at the Rugby World Cup 2023, where she swapped the cigarette trousers for flares.
With each appearance, Kate continues to demonstrate how this design can be styled in various ways, solidifying its status as a staple in her wardrobe.

Bold in burgundy
In a subtle nod to sustainability, the Princess of Wales opted to rewear her burgundy Roland Mouret suit at a Shaping Us reception in November 2023.
This marked the third time Kate has worn the autumnal ensemble.
Her blazer boasted a sleek silhouette with flap pockets strategically placed to accentuate the hip curve.
Meanwhile, the wide-leg trousers provided a welcome spin on traditional suiting, offering a relaxed yet structured appearance.
Kate has styled her £1,200 suit with contrasting pieces, pairing it with a white Holland Cooper bodysuit before swapping it for a pink pussybow blouse.

Green Queen
The Princess recylced her forest green Burberry suit for a visit to the AW Hainsworth textile mill near Leeds in September 2023.
It was a fitting choice for Kate, as the brand is a British institution and perfectly aligned with the occasion.
She had previously worn the outfit six months earlier while greeting the Norwegian royals at Windsor Castle.
The suit featured a tailored jacket, with notched lapels, a single-breasted closure and tortoiseshell buttons, paired with wide-leg trousers.
Kate added a Holland Cooper bodysuit, Emmy London block heels and a chunky chain necklace from Laura Lombardi, creating a polished aesthetic.

Navy poise
Kate has a flair for literal dressing, frequently incorporating the colours of a country’s flag or national symbols into her outfits.
For instance, she selected a £2,480 dark blue suit by Alexander McQueen when meeting Royal Navy personnel at Windsor Castle in September 2020.
Kate also referenced the ocean with her choice of Patrick Mavros earrings, featuring gold sea urchins and a milky quartz stone, suspended from an 18-carat gold post.
Since then, she has worn the suit at the Earthshot Prize awards ceremony in 2022, during her trip to Jordan in June 2023, and at HMP High Down in September 2023.
The suit is in the same style as her pink and white versions.

English rose
Kate embraced high street fashion by choosing a rose-hued suit from M&S when she met NHS staff at a call centre in Croydon in March 2020.
Crafted from an Italian wool blend fabric, the £99 double-breasted blazer and £59 slim-fit trousers exuded style without compromising practicality.
The soft pink tones perfectly complemented Kate’s complexion, bringing a touch of femininity to her formal ensemble.
Kate has worn these pieces both separately and together, highlighting their versatility for a range of casual and formal occasions.

Power pinstripes
The Princess looked impeccably stylish in a double-breasted pinstripe suit by Holland Cooper for a meeting at Windsor Castle in September 2023.
Paired with a roll-neck jumper, Spells of Love hoop earrings and her signature Gianvito Rossi pumps, the ensemble balanced comfort with sophistication.
Kate rewore the striking £848 suit the following month, switching out the jumper for her go-to bodysuit.
Boasting classic lapels and a pinstripe design, this two-piece is finished with Holland Cooper’s signature gold hardware, bringing a glamorous edge to a timeless look.

Brilliant in blue
In December 2023, Kate once again turned to Alexander McQueen’s signature elegant tailoring.
While opening the new Children’s Day Surgery Unit at Evelina London Children’s Hospital, she impressed in a tonal ensemble, comprising a single-breasted blazer and high-rise pleated trousers.
Kate complemented the £2,480 suit with a Jigsaw cashmere sweater, Gianvito Rossi heels and sapphire jewellery that added a subtle sparkle.
The look balanced professionalism with grace, making it perfect for the royal engagement.
