New Orleans escaped inmates: Huntsville police release bodycam video showing Jermaine Donald and Leo Tate being arrested

HUNTSVILLE, Texas — Texas police have released body camera footage capturing the arrests of two fugitives who were among the remaining escapees from a New Orleans jail.

On Tuesday, the Huntsville Police Department released the bodycam and dashcam videos online.

As reported by the Deputy U.S. Marshal, Texas DPS apprehended Leo Tate and Jermaine Donald near Highway 190 and Geneva Road in Huntsville, Texas. The duo had been at large after breaking out with eight other individuals from the New Orleans Justice Center on May 16.

Tate and Donald are facing additional charges and will remain in custody until they are moved back to Louisiana.

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill stated that Tate was originally jailed on charges related to burglary, possession of a firearm by a felon, and illegal weapon carrying. His criminal background further includes an attempted second-degree murder charge.

Murrill also said that Donald was initially incarcerated on charges of second-degree murder, aggravated battery, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

According to Louisiana State police officers, two more of the inmates who escaped on May 16 are still missing.
