Trump calls on NBC to 'fire' Seth Meyers

President Donald Trump is once again directing his ire toward NBC, demanding the network dismiss Late Night host Seth Meyers. This renewed call for Meyers’ termination follows an incident where the comedian reportedly flew into an ‘uncontrollable rage.’

On Saturday night, Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, accusing Meyers of suffering from what he termed an ‘incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS).’ The former president suggested that Meyers’ alleged outburst might be tied to what he described as the show’s ‘ratings DISASTER.’

Further intensifying his critique, Trump stated, ‘Aside from everything else, Meyers has no talent and NBC should fire him IMMEDIATELY.’

In a twist that adds a layer of significance to Trump’s post, it was shared by Federal Communications Commissioner Brendan Carr. Carr, who has been in the spotlight for previously launching an investigation into ABC after Jimmy Kimmel made controversial comments in the aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, appears to be paying close attention to the media landscape.

This scrutiny has palpable effects; following Kimmel’s contentious remarks, more than a dozen ABC affiliates swiftly informed the network and its parent company, Disney, that they would refrain from airing Kimmel’s show until the issue was satisfactorily addressed.

Within hours of the Kimmel post, more than a dozen ABC affiliates told the network and Disney it would not be airing Kimmel’s show until the remarks were addressed.

Disney and senior ABC execs then made the call to pull Kimmel’s show ‘indefinitely’. It came back on the air days later.

Trump’s renewed outrage at Meyers  came after the Late Night host made several jabs at him this past week.

In a segment on his show Thursday, Meyers called Trump the ‘most unpopular president of all time’ as he played a clip from a news program reporting that the president’s ratings were slipping amongst Republicans.

Meyers also made fun of him for claiming ‘no one knows how magnets work’ and joked on Friday that there was lead paint found in the home Trump grew up in.

The comedian further hit out at Trump for claiming the United States needs foreign workers because it doesn’t have enough talented people in its own workforce.

The president made the controversial remark during a sit-down with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham on Tuesday night where the pair sparred over his administration’s policy on H-1B visas, which allows the US to hire highly-skilled foreign workers.

Trump signed an executive order in September that slapped a $100,000 one-time fee on the work visa but he appeared unwilling to consider any further limits during a tense interview with Ingraham.

After playing the clip on his program, Meyers acted as Trump, saying: ‘Laura, Laura, listen you can’t expect me to Make America Great Again with only Americans. You sound insane, Laura.’

He also pounced on Trump’s comment in the interview that ‘You can’t take people off the unemployment line and say, “I’m gonna put you in a factory, go make missiles.”‘

Meyers argued that the president, himself, would be on the unemployment lines if he did not have wealthy parents.

‘Without a million bucks you inherited from your father, you’d be a guy in Queens selling vacuums door to door because you’d keep saying: “Excuse me, ma’am, are you interested in a vacuum? Much like American workers, they absolutely suck.”‘

Meyers also went after the president in his show after damning emails came to light suggesting the president knew about convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s actions.

In the emails, which were released by House Democrats this week, Epstein wrote: ‘Of course, he [Trump] knew about the girls as he asked Ghislaine to stop.’

The president has previously denied knowing about Epstein’s crimes and has claimed he cut off all contact with the billionaire before Epstein was convicted of child sex offenses in 2008.

He has even called the campaign against him a ‘political witch hunt.’

The president is now apparently trying to deflect the criticism by going after former President Bill Clinton and his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

A White House source told The Mail on Sunday: ‘The President is determined to bring down Bill and Hillary Clinton and other Democrats who were connected to Epstein.

His argument is, if there was so much to see in The Epstein Files, why didn’t the Democrats release them under President Biden?’

But Trump has also criticized Meyers in the past.

Just two weeks ago, he called the comedian a ‘deranged lunatic’ and suggested his criticism of the administration was ‘illegal’ in response to a segment Meyers did in which he mocked Trump for his comments about steam catapults.

He joked that Trump ‘spends more time thinking about catapults than Wile E Coyote,’ the Looney Tunes character.

‘Next, they start complaining how our troops don’t tie themselves to rockets anymore,’ Meyers continued, before impersonating Trump.

‘We used to strap our soldiers to the rockets and they loved it, but then everything got woke and they said “You can’t tie a person to a rocket,”‘ Meyers said in his impression of Trump.

‘But we miss those days and we’re bringing them back,’ he continued.

The president has long complained about the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System, or EMALS, which have replaced steam-driven catapults on Ford-class carriers.

The catapults are used to help propel aircraft off of the deck of the carrier during take-off, helping to compensate for the limited length of the flight deck.

Trump also declared in September that Meyers would be the ‘next’ late night host to face cancelation following Kimmel’s brief suspension.

‘That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC,’ he wrote on his Truth Social page at the time, urging the network to ‘do it’.

The comments apparently rattled Meyers, with Puck’s Matthew Beloni saying that the late night host ‘has been freaking out over this.’

A television expert also told the Daily Mail that Meyers would be the next host to go due to networks’ shift away from politically charged content.

But Meyers did not back down on his show, accusing the Trump administration of ‘pursuing a crackdown on free speech,’ following Kimmel’s suspension in the face of threats from Carr.

He also offered mock praise for the commander-in-chief in the mid-September episode as Kimmel’s show faced cancelation.

‘I just want to say, before we get started here, that I’ve always admired and respected Mr Trump,’ he continued, provoking the audience to raucous laughter.

‘I’ve always believed he was a visionary, innovator, a great president, an even better golfer. And if you’ve ever seen me saying anything negative about him, that’s just AI,’ the comedian joked.

Meyers then took on a more serious note as he spoke about Kimmel’s potential ouster.

‘It is a privilege and an honor to call Jimmy Kimmel my friend, in the same way that it’s a privilege and honor to do this show every night,’ Meyers said.

‘I wake up every day, I count my blessings that I live in a country that at least purports to value freedom of speech, and we’re gonna keep doing our show the way we’ve always done it: with enthusiasm and integrity,’ he vowed.
