Multiple people injured in shooting near Arcadia Lake campground

At least 10 individuals were injured in a shooting incident during a ‘Sunday Funday’ gathering near Arcadia Lake, Oklahoma, on Sunday, as emergency personnel quickly converged on the scene.

A significant response, involving multiple agencies such as the Oklahoma City Police, Edmond Police, the Edmond Fire Department, and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, was mobilized following reports of gunfire at the Lake Arcadia event around 9 p.m.

Upon arrival, first responders encountered a chaotic and distressing scene. At least 10 people required transportation to area hospitals, while others sought medical help independently. One victim reportedly drove to a nearby gas station for assistance.

“This is obviously a very terrifying situation,” stated spokeswoman Emily Ward. “We are working extremely hard to find the suspects.”

Preliminary reports indicate that the victims sustained a range of injuries.

As of early Monday morning, authorities had not apprehended any suspects. However, officers are examining footage from Flock license plate reader cameras to identify those involved.

It is believed two men wearing ski masks opened fire at the party, Fox 25 reports.

Police had earlier told KFOR that the shots fired calls likely originated from the Caddo Pavilion at the campground.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found four people with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle near East 15th Street and Timberlake Avenue, according to News 9.

Witnesses to the bloodshed described how several people they know had been shot.

One woman told a reporter her ‘cousin and sister were shot’. Another also said he was shot in the leg but was doing OK.

‘It’s very sad to see someone that you know or that you love, just – it’s a very scary, hard thing,’ one witness told KTWV.

Others at the scene have reported hearing more than 30 shots fired.

Many young adults were pictured on the scene in the aftermath, following a ‘Sunday Funday’ event that had been scheduled at the Scissortail Campground near Arcadia Lake.

It promised ‘good vibes, good people, food and drinks’ and ‘music all night’ from 6pm to 12am Monday.

Police said Sunday night they did not have details about the nature of the party, such as whether it was tied to a specific celebration.

But, Ward said, most attendees were believed to be young adults or older teenagers, and officials do not believe any children were present at the time of the shooting.

Videos posted online showed a large crowd of people dancing under the pavilion where the shooting was believed to have taken place.

One person who appeared to be standing next to the blood-streaked white sedan also appeared to be featured in the poster for the event.

No suspects were in custody Sunday night as authorities continued to speak to witnesses.

But police said they not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public at this time.

‘We are going to be investigating in and on into tomorrow,’ Ward said.

In the meantime, a reunification center has been set up at a local Walmart in the town north of Oklahoma City, and next of kin notifications have been made for all known victims.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Edmond Police Department at (405) 359-4338.
