Andre Onana has faced a challenging period at Manchester United since his arrival two years ago, and now the scrutiny has followed him to his international appearances with Cameroon.
In a match against Cape Verde, the goalkeeper made an unfortunate error by not advancing off his line to intercept striker Dailon Livramento. The forward seized the opportunity, scoring in the 54th minute to give Cape Verde an unexpected 1-0 win.
Tensions escalated post-game as fans invaded the pitch. One fan came up behind Onana, seemingly recording or taking a photo with a phone. Onana reacted in anger, pushing the fan away, with his hand making contact with the fan’s face – all of which was captured by another spectator filming the scene from the front.
The fan responded by throwing a water bottle towards Onana before being ushered away.

The flashpoint comes at a time of upheaval for the 28-year-old, with Manchester United having recently signed Belgian keeper Senne Lammens.
A loan move to Turkish side Trabzonspor is now finalised, with the two clubs having reached an agreement prior to the international break.
For fans of the Turkish club, the hope will be that Onana can not only rebuild his career on the pitch, but also keep his temper in check off it.
