Mikel Arteta has regularly found his way into the referee’s notebook this season but his Arsenal side are top of the Premier League’s Fair Play table, with North London rivals Tottenham rock bottom.

Yellow cards count as one point in the Fair Play table, while dismissals for two bookable offence add three points to a team’s total. A straight red card sees a team receive five points.

The Gunners have picked up just 29 points overall this season, having received just 21 yellow cards in their 17 Premier League matches – nine less than their nearest rival.

Fabio Vieira was shown a straight red card in the Gunners 3-1 win over Burnley last month.

Remarkably Arteta’s four yellow cards on the touchline – which do not count towards the Fair Play table – equals Kai Havertz’s haul on the pitch, with the German their most booked player.

Despite battling against relegation Luton are second in the Fair Play Table with the Hatters yet to have a player sent off during the season.

Their 32 points consist solely of yellow cards received by their players.

Everton, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace complete the top five, with 33, 35 and 37 points respectively.

Arsenal’s arch-rivals Tottenham are at the other end of the Fair Play Table.

Tottenham have accrued 60 points for disciplinary offences following four red cards and 44 bookings.

Only Liverpool have had as many players sent off as Spurs – also four. 

Yves Bissouma has accounted for 13 points after being shown a straight red against Nottingham Forest. The midfielder was also dismissed for two bookings against Luton and has picked up five other yellow cards.

Luton Town and Newcastle are the only sides yet to see a player sent off in the Premier League

Defenders Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie are responsible for nine and eight points respectively, after the pair were sent off against Chelsea. 

Udogie is suspended for Tottenham’s match against Everton on Saturday after accumulating five bookings.

Chelsea and Brighton follow Tottenham on 58 points, while Sheffield United are 17th in the standings on 56.

The relegation threatened Blades have received a league high 50 yellow cards, as well as having two players send off for two bookable offences.
