Luis Diaz has broken his silence on his Liverpool future after the Reds reportedly turned down an approach from Barcelona.

The winger’s future remains uncertain as he enters the final two years of his contract, and Mail Sport has learned that he is set to have discussions with club executives about the situation.

Diaz has enjoyed a successful time at Anfield since joining from Porto midway through the 2021-22 season, winning five trophies and scoring 41 goals.

Dias, speaking on international duty with Colombia, did not commit his future either way.

‘I’m very happy at Liverpool,’ he said. ‘They’ve treated me well since the first day.

“We are in talks with different clubs. It’s the transfer window, which is typical. Whether Liverpool extends my contract or I remain for the next two years, I will be content. The decision rests with them.”

Barcelona continues to be a captivating destination for South American talents, and a quick glance at the past 15 years reveals several key players departing Liverpool for them, including Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho, and Xavier Mascherano.

Diaz is also reported to be the top target of Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, who are seemingly on the hunt for a Cristiano Ronaldo replacement.

Liverpool are open to selling the 28-year-old provided the price is right and they can source an adequate replacement.

Diaz blew hot and cold this season but still had a grand impact overall, scoring 17 goals and providing eight assists in 50 appearances as Liverpool won the Premier League.

His partner, Gera Ponce, posted an emotional message on Instagram which some fans took as a farewell message. On the other hand, it could just be interpreted as them insisting on their love for the club.

‘From the first day we arrived, we felt first hand what it means to be a part of this club,’ she wrote.

‘We knew the slogan was “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, but to hear them sing it with so much passion, support us every moment and show such unconditional love… confirmed to us that here you never walk alone.

‘This fan doesn’t just support, it feels. And what you have made my boyfriend and our entire family feel is something we carry in our souls.

‘Thank you for so much love, for so much dedication and for making us feel at home. Being part of this fan(base) is a privilege. There’s no doubt: they’re the best in the world.

‘This is a real bond, deep and strong, that reaffirms that we’ll never walk alone’.

Barcelona are said to believe Diaz can slot in well alongside Raphinha and Lamine Yamal in their front three.

Speaking to Telemundo last month Diaz insisted he was happy at Anfield and relaxed about his contract situation.

‘Yes, happy. From the first day I arrived, I’ve always been happy, calm, enjoying the football played at this great team.

‘We’ll be talking about it, we’ll talk about it (about the renewal). For me, I would stay however many years it takes, it also depends on the club, everything.

‘These are details that are sorted out separately. Very calm, I’m happy and enjoying the Premier League.’
