Piers Morgan has continued to question why Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has ‘humiliated’ Aaron Ramsdale and believes David Raya is not an upgrade in goal for the Gunners.

Raya started in Sunday’s north London derby against Spurs and has been preferred to Ramsdale for Arsenal’s last three games, despite claims from Arteta that he will rotate his two goalkeepers.

Reflecting on the 2-2 draw at the Emirates and the current goalkeeping situation, Morgan believes the Gunners boss has a big decision to make and doesn’t believe that Raya is a big enough upgrade to replace Ramsdale.

‘I’ve heard Arteta say he’s going to rotate them but he’s not rotating them he’s playing Raya.

Aaron Ramsdale has been dropped in favour of David Raya for Arsenal’s last three games

‘I don’t understand why Ramsdale has been demoted, and is currently being humiliated like this, I think Arteta needs to make a decision who’s number one and then stick with it.

‘I think Raya is very good, but on yesterday’s performance I’m not thinking this is a massive upgrade on Ramsdale who was a key player for us last season.

‘I’m not really into the rotation thing.’

Ramsdale was ever-present in the Arsenal goal last season, as the Gunners finished second behind Manchester City in the Premier League and qualified for the Champions League.

However, Arsenal recruited Raya in the summer, with the Spanish stopper arriving on a season-long loan from Brentford with an option to make the transfer permanent next summer.

It’s not the first time Morgan has called-out Arteta over the goalkeeping dilemma, earlier this month the TV host first accused the Spanish boss of humiliating the England goalkeeper when he dropped him for the Gunners’ trip to Everton.

Posting on his X feed: ‘I don’t understand what Ramsdale has done to deserve being dropped? Havertz, yes.. but Ramsdale’s been consistently superb for us. Why humiliate him?’

The point against Tottenham means Arsenal remain unbeaten so far this season, and sit in fifth place on the Premier League table, just behind their north London rivals on goal difference.
