Diogo Jota has left fans in hysterics after being caught arriving at training with his phone unlocked.

The forward recently returned for full fitness in a huge boost for Liverpool with the Reds set to lose key man Mohamed Salah for a number of weeks to the African Cup of Nations.

He scored the Reds’ second goal in their narrow 2-0 win over Burnley on Boxing Day as he featured for the first time since November having been out with a muscle injury.

In a video shared by Liverpool’s social media accounts on Friday, Jota was among a number of players seen arriving for training – and he was playing his favourite game on the go.

The video, just under a minute long, included footage of the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate and captain Virgil van Dijk arriving at the AXA Training Centre in Kirkby.

Around half-way through the video, Jota is seen walking through the doors in an orange jumper, phone in hand.

It appeared, however, that the 27-year-old forgot to lock his phone, and it was clear to see he was playing the EAS FC Companion App.

The Companion App is a programme often used by players of Ultimate Team – a popular game mode on the game formerly known as FIFA.

Ultimate Team allows players to build squads and teams from any players in the game and challenge other players online, who have done similar, in matches.

And while matches can only be played via a console of PC, the point of the Companion App is to allow users to access their team and use other features in Ultimate Team while away from their usual screen.

‘Jota’s dedication is unreal,’ one fan said. ‘On the companion app in training!’

‘The grind doesn’t stop!’, added another, while a third said: ‘He was making improvements in the EAFC 24 app, hahaha!’

Jota is a regular Ultimate Team player and made headlines in 2020 when he beat Leicester’s Wilfred Ndidi in the ePremier League Invitational.

The forward scored four goals with himself in the game, which finished 8-2 to the Portugal man.

‘Although Ndidi did a good effort I think I know more of the game than him,’ said Jota after the match. ‘Also Ndidi always makes a pursuit against me on the [real life] field, so it was my turn!’
