Brazilian wonderkid Endrick has revealed the impact Cristiano Ronaldo has had on his career and decision to join Real Madrid.

Endrick, 17, is set to move to Los Blancos from Palmeiras in the summer when he turns 18 after the Spanish giants beat off significant competition to sign him for a reported €60m (£52m).

Despite his tender age, the forward has already scored 17 goals and added two assists in 60 appearances for Palmeiras and earned his first two Brazil caps during the November international break.

‘He’s my biggest idol, a player who broke all records by being an exemplary, dedicated player,’ he told A Bola.

‘He is more than an athlete, he is a guy that everyone should have as an example, because no matter the moment, he wants to be the best, he wants to win titles, he wants to achieve milestones, in addition to being a person who shows humility.

‘He is a reference for any player who wants to go further in their career.’

Ronaldo spent nine years with Real after joining from Man United for a then-world record £80m in 2009.

The forward sored 450 times in 438 games for the club and won 15 trophies, including four Champions League titles.

Meanwhile, Endrick recently spent time in Madrid to acclimatise and meet his impending future team-mates, which included taking in their 4-1 victory over Villarreal.

And the 17-year-old claimed this only whetted his appetite ahead of finally joining up with Carlo Ancelotti’s side next summer.

I’ve always wanted to play for Real Madrid,’ he added. ‘It’s always been my priority, and now on this trip to Madrid I’ve been able to feel a little more closely what I’m going to find, the environment, my future team-mates, the facilities.

‘I was very happy, but when we return to Brazil we will turn off this switch and turn on another one, as I have more of this first semester with Palmeiras to play and my objective is to win all the titles in which I participate.’
