Manchester United have no intention of replacing Erik ten Hag has manager and retain ‘firm confidence’ in the Dutchman. 

After achieving an impressive debut campaign, Ten Hag has presided over a dismal run of form which has yielded six losses in their first 10 games including back-to-back defeats in the Champions League. 

Tuesday night’s 3-2 home loss to Galatasaray – their second in as many games at Old Trafford – ended with a chorus of boos. 

The former Ajax boss still has the confidence of United executives who see him as the best coach to take the club forward and do not regard talk of his future as an issue for discussion.

United’s struggles with injuries have played a part in their early season woes. Ten Hag has had as many as 16 players unavailable and is currently in the midst of a left-back crisis that saw him forced to deploy new midfield signing Sofyan Amrabat in the position. 

The Moroccan’s unfamiliarity in the role contributed to the Turkish side’s winner. While Andre Onana’s howler swung the contest in the favour of Okan Buruk’s team.

The performances of £72m striker Rasmus Hojlund have been one consolation from the campaigns early runnings. 

Already seven points from fourth place, Ten Hag will hope the youngster can maintain his goal scoring form when they welcome Brentford on Saturday.
