Manchester United have been urged to bring Mason Greenwood back to the club by former youth star Ravel Morrison, after the loanee’s impressive display for Getafe against Atletico Madrid.

Greenwood made the season-long move to the Madrid-based side in September.

The switch came after Man United announced in August that Greenwood would not play for them as they were prioritising ‘welfare, wishes and perspective’.

Greenwood has scored five goals and provided four assists for Getafe since joining, with the former England international having made 15 appearances for the club to date.

Greenwood particularly impressed for Getafe as they staged a late fightback to draw 3-3 against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.

Former Man United midfielder Morrison reacted to a highlights reel featuring Greenwood’s best moments from the match on social media.

The 30-year-old urged Man United to bring Greenwood back to the club following his display.

‘What a player,’ Morrison wrote. ‘United need to bring him back!!’

Morrison had himself been viewed as a potential Man United star after impressing in the club’s academy.

He had been viewed as one of the most talented prospects but ultimately left the club in 2012 after concerns over off the field problems.

Legendary Man United boss Sir Alex Ferguson later claimed Morrison had been ‘beaten by his background’.

Morrison is currently playing in the MLS with DC United, the 13th different club of his career.

Despite Morrison’s call for Man United to bring Greenwood back, the prospect appears remote given Man United’s public stance back in August.
