A fire chief said those involved in a horror car smash in Germany which sent three of Harry Kane’s children to hospital were ‘very lucky’ not to be seriously injured in the collision.

The England captain’s children Louis, three, Vivienne, five, and Ivy, seven, were all travelling in a Mercedes van when it collided with a Renault near Schäftlarn in Munich on Monday afternoon.

They were rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital for a check-up and did not sustain any serious injuries. Kane’s wife Kate and fourth child, Henry, who was born in August, are not believed to have been in the van.

Hohenschäftlarn Volunteer Fire Department chief Daniel Buck told BBC News that all of the cars ‘had a lot of damage’ and the first thing they saw ‘was a lot of injured people from all the cars’.

He said there was good news as ‘nobody had really strong injuries, more minor injuries’ such as neck pain which is often the result of a car crash.

‘Thank God nobody was really injured,’ he added. ‘It was really lucky for all the people.’

The incident is understood to have taken place in Bavaria near where Kane plays for Bayern Munich as the 30-year-old striker flew to London with his team ahead of their Champions League clash against Arsenal.

The crash occurred at 5.15pm on Monday, when the car collided with the oncoming van the children were in, as it tried to turn onto the motorway slip road, German media Bild reports.

‘There was a crash, but the kids are fine, and none were injured,’ a spokesperson for Kane told Mail Sport.

‘No injuries at all. They went to hospital for a routine check-up.’

Bild reported the Renault was driven by a 20-year-old woman, who was travelling along a three-year-old child and two adults aged 43 and 48.

Meanwhile, a 24-year-old German woman was behind the wheel of the Mercedes van.

The crash caused the Renault to skid on the road and slam into a Land Rover, driven by a 62-year-old woman, before coming to a halt.

Police told Bild that all eight occupants of the vehicles suffered from minor injuries due to the accident and were taken to hospital by ambulance and  a woman was taken to hospital by helicopter.

Photos from the scene show the Mercedes van with is bonnet caved in form the impact of the crash. Sand had been spread over the road by the emergency services, to soak up any car oils spilled in the collision.

The airbags of the van had deployed due to the impact of the crash.

The right front of the Renault’s bonnet was showing significant signs of damage from the impact and the wheel on that side of the car was off-axis.

Several emergency service vehicles can be seen at the scene after the crash, with photos showing four ambulances and two fire engines in attendance along with firefighters.

The crash blocked the junction to the A95 motorway as it was dealt with by the authorities.

Munich police said in a statement: ‘On Monday, April 8th, 2024, around 5:15 p.m., a 20-year-old resident of Munich was driving a Renault car on state road 2071 towards the A95.

‘A 48-year-old, a 43-year-old and a three-year-old (all of whom live in Munich) were also passengers in the 20-year-old’s car.

‘At the same time, a 24-year-old resident of the Munich district was also driving a Mercedes car on State Road 2071 in the opposite direction.

‘There were three children between the ages of five and seven in the 24-year-old’s vehicle (all of whom lived in the Munich district).’

Three of Harry Kane’s children were reportedly injured in a serious car crash in Germany on Monday afternoon.

The statement added: ‘At the junction with the A95, the 20-year-old wanted to turn left onto the motorway access road there. The 20-year-old’s car collided with the 24-year-old’s oncoming car.

‘As a result, the 20-year-old’s car began to skid and collided with another Land Rover car belonging to a 62-year-old who lives in the Munich district and was on the exit of the A95 motorway slip road.

‘All occupants of the vehicles involved suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision. They were taken to hospitals by helicopter and emergency services, among other things. The 62-year-old went to the doctor herself.

‘There was material damage amounting to tens of thousands of euros.’

All the eight passengers of the three vehicles involved suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision and were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

By the time the crash unfolded, Kane had just landed in London ahead of the first leg of Bayern’s quarter-final clash against Arsenal.

Making his first club appearance in England since leaving Spurs for Bayern in the summer in a £100million deal, Kane scored his side’s second goal in a 2-2 draw.
