Inter Miami will travel to Hong Kong during its upcoming preseason, the team announced Friday, with other matches on its tour of Asia set to be announced in the coming weeks.

Buoyed by the midseason arrivals of Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, Miami won its first-ever trophy as it lifted the Leagues Cup in August.

And the Herons will travel overseas as they look to gear up for the 2024 season, with the group set to face the Hong Kong Team on February 4.

Co-owner David Beckham gushed about the news.

‘Hong Kong is a beautiful city with a great sports scene,’ he said. ‘Throughout my career, I have spent a lot of time in Asia – I am so pleased to have the opportunity to bring Inter Miami to play our first international tour match in this fantastic city.’

The match will be held at the 40,000-capacity Hong Kong Stadium.

Miami was previously set to go on a postseason tour to China, with games against Qingdao Hainiu and Chengdu Rongcheng scheduled for November 5 and 8 respectively.

But that tour was scrapped due to ‘bureaucratic and commercial issues,’ as Argentine journalist Gaston Edul said.

In other Miami news, the club is reportedly finalizing its move for Luis Suarez, who will reunite with his ex-Barcelona teammates Messi, Busquets and Alba in South Florida.

The Uruguayan striker, 36, waved goodbye to Gremio fans in their final home game on Sunday after scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win vs. Vasco da Gama.

The Miami Herald have reported that he will sign a one-year contract with Miami.
