Hammers explain Paqueta exit
West Ham United has officially announced that Lucas Paqueta has been given permission to travel to Brazil to finalize personal terms with Flamengo, following his request to transfer.
Paqueta has expressed a strong desire to join Flamengo, the club where his professional journey began.
“Lucas has conveyed that, due to personal and family considerations, he wants to return to Brazil and start anew. This decision follows his exoneration in July 2025 from FA misconduct charges, which took a toll on him over two years,” the club stated.
“Despite the club’s efforts to retain Lucas, he remains firm in his decision to leave,” they continued.
“Consequently, the head coach and the club have, albeit reluctantly, decided to honor his transfer request.”
‘West Ham United would like to take this opportunity to thank our management, players, staff and loyal supporters for the unwavering and devoted support they have shown to Lucas throughout his time at the club and, in particular, over the past two and a half years.’

The Greece international is on loan at Roma and, while they have been exploring the market for alternative left-backs, notably having a bid rejected for Wolves’ David Moller Wolfe, they have yet to find one.
They are subsequently not intending to send Tsimikas back. The knock-on is that Andy Robertson’s situation also remains the same – that he is likely to stay.
One Liverpool left-back who could be on the move is 20-year-old Calum Scanlon who has returned from a hamstring injury and is wanted by Cardiff on loan.
Porto are among those keen in Liverpool forward Keyrol Figueroa who is ready to sign a new contract before going out on loan.

‘My mentality is always to do better. It’s always to improve as a player, to help the team as much as I can and I always say, if I’m the same person as yesterday, it’s one day lost.
