Jose Mourinho was up to his old mind tricks as he argued with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen during Roma’s 2-0 win over Napoli.

The Roma boss lost his rag with Georgian winger Kvaratskhelia after receiving a yellow card for his touchline protestations during the first-half.

In the 38th minute at the Stadio Olimpico, Kvaratskhelia went down under the lightest of touches from Bryan Cristante to earn the Roma midfielder a booking.

His reward for the histrionics was a yellow card from referee Andrea Colombo, but Mourinho wasn’t done there.

He paced down the sideline after Kvaratskhelia shouting ‘basta, basta’ [‘enough’ or ‘stop it’] and things became heated as the pair went face-to-face.

Mourinho seemed keen to teach the player some respect and continued his rant before grabbing Kvaratskhelia by the face to continue the discussion.

They ended up in a kind of embrace, grabbing one another by the arms, before the former Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United boss finally let the Napoli man go.

Later in the game, Mourinho had another animated discussion with striker Osimhen, who was later shown a red card as the reigning Serie A champions ended up with nine men.

Even before the game, Mourinho was trying to spook Napoli by standing on the pitch and staring intently at their warm-up.

But his behaviour ultimately had the desired effect as Roma recorded a notable victory.

Matteo Politano was the first dismissed in the 66th-minute, with Roma breaking the deadlock through Lorenzo Pellegrini 10 minutes later.

It then led to Mourinho chasing Kvaratskhelia down the touchline shouting 'enough, stop it'

Osimhen was sent off with four minutes of the game to go for a second booking and Romelu Lukaku’s strike deep into stoppage time made sure of Roma’s three points.

The result lifted Mourinho’s men above Napoli in the table and they go into Christmas in sixth position, three points off the top four.
