Manchester United legend Patrice Evra has embarked on a new venture as a reality TV star after starring in a new Netflix show.

The Frenchman starred across eight years at Old Trafford between 2008 and 2016 during which time he won five Premier League titles, the Champions League and several other major top honours.

His exit was confirmed just a season after Sir Alex Ferguson decided to call time on his career and was later deemed surplus to requirements under David Moyes.

In his latest escapade, he’s taken his talents to online streaming platform Netflix after being announced as a participant in the Sidemen’s new show ‘Inside’.

The premise of the show – which is hosted by UK YouTuber group ‘The Sidemen’ -sees 10 stars locked in a luxurious, isolated house in the UK.

The contestants then compete in a series of intense and unpredictable challenges and battle it out to win the ultimate goal of £1million.

Evra was not listed as part of the initial line-up for the show but instead was a surprise announcement during the first episode of the series.

During an interview on the show, the five-time Premier League winner claimed he’d now rather be known as an internet star than a Manchester United legend.

He said: ‘I hope, in maybe one year, that people will say “Oh, this is the YouTuber!”. I prefer them to say that then saying “Oh, he’s the legend of Man United”.

Since retiring from football, Evra has had a large presence on social media and regularly posts videos to his 13.6m followers on Instagram.

The former United defender is known for his bizarre social media posts, but none more so than the clip posted in 2018 ahead of Thanksgiving, featuring a now infamous raw chicken.

In the video he can be seen provocatively kissing the poultry, spanking it repeatedly and even biting down on it.

Appearing as a guest on the Stick to Football podcast in August last year, Evra spoke about the ‘crazy’ and ‘sexual’ post.

The 43-year-old said: ‘On the chicken video, I just slapped the chicken, I didn’t lick it – look at the video, I didn’t lick the chicken!

‘When I did that video, it was Thanksgiving in America, but I don’t care about Thanksgiving, so I was making a joke about it, you know, “When you eat your chicken, you fall in love with it.” It was sexual.

‘It was crazy because it also affected my son because at school, they were like, “Your dad eats raw chicken,” or whatever. So, of course I regret that video, but in that moment, I was that crazy.

‘I remember, I was in Switzerland, and there was a lady with her husband, and she looked at me like, “I know you!” And her husband says, “Of course you know him, it’s Patrice Evra.’ And she said, “No, I’ve seen him somewhere… that guy was licking a chicken!”

‘After that, I also did [a video] for the vegans. I was eating flowers and trees, so everyone was happy.’
