Katrina Gorry is reportedly on the verge of agreeing a deal to join English club West Ham United.

According to the BBC, the Australian midfielder has yet to sign a contract with the Hammers, but is close to joining the east London club when the transfer window opens in January.

Gorry, 31, enjoyed a superb Women’s World Cup campaign with the Matildas on home soil, providing the spark for her country during Sam Kerr’s agonizing spell on the sidelines.

Earlier this month, Gorry said goodbye to Swedish club Vittsjo GIK following the conclusion of the domestic football season, where she had been for two years alongside fiance and teammate Clara Markstedt.

Markstedt announced her retirement recently and the conclusion of the season, coupled with the strong interest in Gorry following her performances at the World Cup, opened the door for the pair and their daughter Harper to start a new chapter.

Gorry took to Instagram to thank the club after a wonderful two-year spell.

‘To my @vittsjogikofcl family, THANK YOU ❤️,’ she wrote on Instagram.

‘Thank you for giving me this opportunity, for welcoming us with open arms and for taking care of our little girl.

‘Thank you to our incredible supporters, to my team, to our coaching staff and most of all our incredible Nannies.

‘This has become our home for the last 2 years but it’s time to say goodbye and set off on a new adventure. I came here with a 6-month-old and I’m leaving with a bilingual 2-year-old, a beautiful fiancé and people that will hold a place in our hearts forever.’
