Kylian Mbappe has admitted that he will leave current club Paris Saint-Germain “at some point” amid consistent rumours linking him with a transfer to Real Madrid.

The superstar forward’s contract with the Ligue 1 champions is set to expire at the end of the 2023/24 season, and it has been widely expected that he will take his talents to Madrid as a free agent once it does. Reports emanating from France recently even suggested that Mbappe has in fact already agreed terms ahead of a summer move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Mbappe’s representatives have since released a statement insisting no such deal has been struck: “There is no agreement about Kylian’s future, especially as there are no discussions underway about it. No type of influence could dictate the timing of Kylian’s discussions, reflections or decisions.”

90min understands that the forward has made a pledge to PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi that he will be the first person told about his decision whether or not to stay at the Parc des Princes, and the club itself are calm about the situation despite consistent rumours.

Speaking in an interview with GQ, Mbappe has since commented on his long-term future with PSG, admitting that he will leave the club “at some point”.

He said: “Many great players who have left their mark on the history of soccer have left Europe this summer and we are entering a new era in soccer. It is the normal cycle of this sport and at some point I will have to leave.”

Al-Khelaifi has also commented on the forward’s future recently, telling Rothen s’enflamme that he is keen for him to remain at the club beyond this.

“Of course I want Kylian to stay, that’s for sure,” the president said. “He’s the best player in the world, and the best club for Kylian is Paris. He’s at the centre of everything.”
